چکیده

This paper summarizes the main results of a joint endeavor towards a standard reference model for intelligent multimedia presentation systems (IMMPS's). After a brief motivation, we give basic deenitions for media terms and presentation systems. The core of this contribution is a generic reference architecture which reeects an implementation independent view of the processes required for the generation of multimedia presentations. The reference architecture is described in terms of layers, components , and knowledge servers. Our RM focuses is on the indication of functions assigned to the layers and components, rather than focusing on methods, or communication protocols which may be employed to realize the functionalities. Finally, we point to some possible extensions of the reference model.

Integrating the Amsterdam hypermedia model with the standard reference model for intelligent multimedia presentation systems

The standard reference model (SRM) for intelligent multimedia presentation systems describes a framework for the automatic generation of multimedia presentations. This framework, however, lacks an explicit document model of the presentation being generated. The Amsterdam hypermedia model (AHM) describes the document features of a hypermedia presentation explicitly. We take the AHM and use it as...

Implementing an Intelligent Multimedia Presentation Planner using an Agent Based Architecture

This paper describes the implementation of an intelligent Multimedia Presentation Planner (MPP) in a multimodal dialogue system. Following the development of an architecture based on the Standard Reference Model, designed specifically for FOCAL, this implementation has been integrated with an earlier spoken dialogue system. The design now ensures that the framework is portable to other multimod...

Implementing Adaptability in the Standard Reference Model for Intelligent Multimedia Presentation Systems

This paper discusses the implementation of adaptability in environments that are based on the Standard Reference Model for Intelligent Multimedia Presentation Systems. This adaptability is explored in the context of style sheets, which are represented in such formats as DSSSL. The use of existing public standards and tools for this implementation of style sheet-based adaptability is described. ...

Relating the primitive hierarchy of the PREMO standard to the standard reference model for intelligent multimedia presentation systems

The need for a suitable classification of media types arises for several reasons when building or comparing multimedia systems. Within an Intelligent Multimedia Presentation Systems (IMMPS) it is necessary to formulate and encode design knowledge for decision making on the appropriate medium in which to present information and for the generation of the presentation. It is also required in order...

A Survey of Automated Multimedia Presentation Generation Frameworks

The widespread usage of multimedia data in recent years has led to an enormous interest in making these data available through the Web. Due to the complex requirements of multimedia data, the design and implementation of web-based information systems to fulfil the search, retrieval, and presentation necessities for such systems is not a trivial task. This paper surveys systems and methods for c...
